Druhan Posted April 12, 2018 at 03:23 AM Report Share Posted April 12, 2018 at 03:23 AM (edited) Hello, Our Bylaws prescribe that the Vice President of our Society shall serve as chairman of its Executive Committee. Shall I address him as Mr. President or Mr. Vice President at the Executive Committe meetings? Also, when I write, "...the [President/Vice President] being in the chair, and the Secretary being present," in the minutes, should I write President or Vice president in that instance? Thank you for your help. Edited April 12, 2018 at 03:24 AM by Druhan

Richard Brown Posted April 12, 2018 at 03:37 AM Report Share Posted April 12, 2018 at 03:37 AM I agree with Mr. Huynh. Address him as "Mr. Chairman". Your minutes could reflect that either "The Chairman" or "The Vice President" was in the chair.

Well, technically RONR’s preference is to use “Chairman” regardless of the gender. I have seen many societies use “Chair” or “Chairperson.” I do not often see “Chairwoman.”

Well, you know what they say about ASSUME. Or maybe you don't. I guess I just assumed you did. Oops, it's contagious! I probably should rethink this.
