  1. Hello, I am currently involved in a club called DECA within my high school. DECA is a co-curricular club and does require class participation. However, my advisor is now making it a requirement for seniors who want to be an officer to take not only the DECA class they are currently taking, but an additional Business Ownership course. This is not mentioned in the bylaws nor has it ever been brought up previously. Does this go against any rules in Robert's Rules of Order? I am currently speaking with administration to have this requirement be repealed, as my schedule is currently booked next year with 4 AP courses and an already selected DECA class.

  3. Hello, I belong to a Fire Company and we have our annual nominations in November and Elections of officers in December. We have a member who did not meet his requirements to hold office prior to nominations but was able to recieve them before elections. Is this member able to be nominated and run for office? Any insight and documentation would be appreciated.
  4. We are a non-profit social club and our activities consist of monthly meeting, luncheons, games etc. to participate (play games) you must be a member, if you are eligible to be a member you may attend two (2) functions prior to payment of membership dues. Most of the games are played in members homes, if game requires say 8 to play and only 7 members show up, then a non-member may Sub to make the 8 but according to the rules that same Sub can only play twice before becoming a member.. A small number of members have not paid their dues and are effectively no longer members as of July1, the Board has decided to check the membership status of all game players and requested a list of players names from the game Chairs, they want to see if any non-members are playing games. Now what can they do, hold the Chairs responsible for non-members playing, hold court... Thank you for your advise.
