Tomm Posted October 31, 2019 at 06:03 PM Report Share Posted October 31, 2019 at 06:03 PM The "Outreach & Communication Committee" made a recommendation suggesting to acquire an Ombudsman. The recommendation was Tabled by the Board until one can be found. Besides the fact that the motion to Table was probably the incorrect motion, is there a motion that would allow the recommendation to continue to be pending for such an unspecified limit of time? Hieu H. Huynh Posted October 31, 2019 at 06:12 PM Report Share Posted October 31, 2019 at 06:12 PM Refer it to a committee.

Since someone is, presumably, looking it sounds as though the Board is actively working on the problem. Perhaps a committee of one, the looker, is the committee to which the task has been assigned, at least implicitly. But it would indeed help if the Board made its plan a tad clearer. George Mervosh Posted October 31, 2019 at 07:41 PM Report Share Posted October 31, 2019 at 07:41 PM The Board will need to do something quickly or the motion that was laid on the table is going to die, if it's not dead already: "In cases in which the next regular business session will be held before a quarterly time interval has elapsed (see pp. 89–90), a question laid on the table remains there until taken from the table or until the close of the next regular session; if not taken up by that time, the question dies. In cases in which the lapse of time between regular business sessions is greater than a quarterly time interval (see pp. 89–90), a question laid on the table can remain there only until the end of the current session; and unless taken from the table earlier, the matter dies with the close of that session. Tomm, was a motion made to adopt the recommendation and then that motion was subsequently tabled, or do I have to visit the aileron shop on Flatbush Avenue? Tomm Posted November 1, 2019 at 06:51 PM Author Report Share Posted November 1, 2019 at 06:51 PM "Hello Flatbush"! No motion was ever made. When the "Committee Recommendation" portion of the Agenda was reached the motion to Table the recommendation was made and passed.

Atul Kapur Posted November 4, 2019 at 07:15 AM Report Share Posted November 4, 2019 at 07:15 AM The board could adopt a motion that it will make efforts to find and "acquire"(odd word choice) an ombudsman. That way its intent will be in the minutes.
