  2. Generally, a defeated motion could be renewed at the next meeting.
  3. RONR does not give anyone the power to veto. Since your council has rules which supersede those in RONR, I think the answer to your questions would have to be found in those rules.
  4. How did the standing committee get its members? Who elected those members?
  5. So the board adopted a motion to dissolve the special committee? Were new members elected?
  6. What was the announced result of the vote? Was the motion adopted or defeated?
  7. Do your bylaws give the board the power to dissolve these committees? Who elected them originally?
  8. Are you asking about the executive committee? What do your bylaws say about the committee? How are members elected to it?
  9. In RONR, a member has the right to abstain.
  10. It's up to the member to decide to abstain.
  11. An attorney should be consulted on legal questions.
  12. Why can't the correct ballots be sent to all members?
  13. What body is meeting? Was the committee making a report?
  14. Only members have the right to attend meetings. Others may be allowed to attend by the body that is meeting.
  15. The answers to these questions would have to be found in your bylaws. Do your rules prohibit voting at the spring meeting? What powers do your bylaws give the president?
